Bardsey Book - Prayers for the Day

by Janet Fletcher
A bi-lingual creative liturgy, readings and prayer.
Bishop Andy writes in his Preface, ‘this book is specifically about the Christian character of the island and how to journey beyond its geography and history into its heart and discover what has drawn countless generations there to prayer, silence, contemplation and inner reflection.’
Archdeacon Andrew Jones in his Foreword writes, ‘it will most certainly be a valuable and rich resource to modern-day pilgrims heading to Bardsey’.
This has been a joy to write. To be asked to write creatively takes time, and a sense of prayerfulness. It’s to be open to the movement and flow of words as well as the movement and flow of the Spirit.
It is a resource for all pilgrims wherever they may be. There are prayers to guide through the day and the ‘stations’ of the island are ones that could be entered into prayerfully in other places. To pray somewhere other than on the Island, simply change some of the words that refer specifically to the Island to words which speak of where you are.
The overall theme is to encounter God through creative and inclusive prayers and reflections. If a pilgrimage to Bardsey is never made in person, this book can help you journey there in your hearts and imagination.
