The Church in Wales Launches Daily Prayer App

The Church in Wales’s second digital app, the Daily Prayer App, has been launched over the weekend – another important step in making the worship resources of the Church in Wales more accessible, helping people to engage with daily prayer wherever and whenever they need it.

The app brings together two of the Church in Wales’s most popular publications, Daily Prayer (2009) and Daily with God (2024), making these resources available in a convenient digital format, following the successful model of the Digital Lectionary App.

The Daily Prayer App will be released in two phases. The first, Personal Devotion, enables users to access Morning, Midday, Evening and Compline (Night) Prayer on their phone, laptop or other digital devices. Each service is presented in a clear, easy-to-use format, incorporating introductions, Bible readings, blessings, canticles, prayers, creeds and conclusions. The app is available in both Welsh and English and is free to use.

Both the Digital Lectionary and the new Daily Prayer App will be available from the same online location. The older version of the Digital Lectionary will be withdrawn in due course.

Coming Soon: Service Sheet Creation

The second phase of the app will introduce a Service Sheet Creation facility. This will allow users to build a service by selecting the required elements using simple, intuitive buttons. Once the selections have been made, the service text can be downloaded in Welsh, English or both languages.

A launch date for this second phase has yet to be announced, but it is expected to be available soon.

Here’s some feedback from our users!:

“This is a massive step forwards.”

“Been using this in the trial period as an ordinand and it’s superb!”

“It has been long awaited and will be amazing for clergy and our congregations.”

“[The Daily Prayer app] is a resounding triumph. I have installed it on my phone and it will be the go-to resource used by me and my wider Ministry Area Team. We have previously used the Common Worship Daily Prayer app as it sets a high bar in quality. However, our new app is every bit as good, user-friendly and comprehensive with more options embracing simplicity as well as the more standard format.”
