North Wales dioceses commission new Spiritual Directors

The Diocese of Bangor and the Diocese of St Asaph came together on Tuesday 5 May for the commissioning of new Spiritual Directors and the re-commissioning of those already serving in this ministry.
The service was led by Bishop of St Asaph Gregory Cameron, who preached on the role of spiritual direction in helping people reflect on prayer, vocation, and their relationship with God.
Spiritual Directors accompany people who are exploring a vocation through prayerful listening and reflection, helping them discern God’s guidance in their lives.
Spiritual direction is an important place of prayer, discernment, and encouragement.
In the Diocese of Bangor, spiritual direction forms part of the Diocese’s commitment to growing vocations. Clergy, Licensed Lay Ministers, and those discerning recognised ministry are expected to have a Spiritual Director as part of their formation and ministry.
Those newly commissioned in the Diocese of Bangor are Christine Daniel, Kathryn Evans, Eryl Parry, Jane James and Anna Lewis.
Those re-commissioned are Lynda Cowan, Wendy Davies, Anne Eyre, Ruth Hansford, Sara Roberts, Anne Williams and Angela Williams.
Canon Alex Mayes, Diocesan Director of Ministry, said: “For many people, spiritual direction becomes an important place of prayer, discernment, and encouragement. If anyone feels they may benefit from meeting with a Spiritual Director, or senses a call to this ministry themselves, I would encourage them to make contact.”
