Church in Wales Data Protection Resource Centre

The Church in Wales Data Protection Resource Centre has been created to support Ministry Areas, Diocesan Boards of Finance, Cathedrals and other Church organisations in understanding and achieving data protection compliance.

The Resource Centre is designed to provide practical guidance in plain language. It does not assume prior knowledge of data protection law and is intended to help those responsible for handling personal information understand their responsibilities with confidence.

The purpose of the Resource Centre is not to turn people into data protection experts. It is to provide practical guidance that helps every Church organisation understand its responsibilities and achieve legal compliance. The guides are designed to support day-to-day decision-making and should be used alongside training and advice from the Representative Body Data Protection Officer where appropriate.

Rather than trying to answer every question during training, the Resource Centre provides a growing library of practical guidance that can be referred to whenever it is needed. Each guide focuses on a specific topic and is written to support day-to-day decision-making within Church organisations.

The Resource Centre contains a series of short practical guides covering specific data protection topics. It will continue to develop over time, with new guides and frequently asked questions added in response to the needs of the Church in Wales.
