South Wales Police appeal for victim-survivors to come forward following Anthony Pierce conviction
The South Wales Police is appealing for victim-survivors to come forward following the conviction of Anthony Pierce for multiple child sex offences.
Anthony Pierce, 85, formerly Bishop of Swansea and Brecon, pleaded guilty to five counts of indecent assault on a child under the age of 16 at Swansea Crown Court in February 2025. He was sentenced to four years and one month in prison and will be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order upon release. He will remain on the sex offenders register for life.
Since sentencing, South Wales Police says it has received three further reports relating to alleged offences dating back to the 1970s and 1980s, which are now under investigation.
Detective Inspector Tom Richardson said police understand how difficult it can be for victim-survivors to come forward and praised the bravery of those who have already reported abuse. Officers believe there may be others affected and are encouraging anyone with information or concerns to contact police, assuring them that reports will be handled sensitively and compassionately.
Anyone wishing to contact South Wales Police can call 101 quoting occurrence number 2600140999.
