The churchyard of St John’s Church, Aberdare, was transformed into a beautiful Labyrinth of Lights on All Souls’ Day, offering a peaceful space for prayer, reflection and remembrance as the darker months of the year begin.

Open to all, the event welcomed members of the community to remember loved ones who had died, whether recently or many years ago, through a unique prayer experience centred on an illuminated labyrinth.

Labyrinths have been used for centuries as a form of contemplative prayer. Unlike a maze, there are no dead ends or wrong turns. Instead, those walking the winding path are invited to move slowly and prayerfully towards the centre before journeying back out again. The experience serves as a powerful metaphor for life itself, with its unexpected turns, moments of nearness and distance, and its ultimate destination.
