Governing Body meeting on 30 April - 1 May 2025

The Governing Body of the Church in Wales will meet later this week from Wednesday 30 April to Thursday 1 May.
The meeting, which brings together bishops, clergy, and lay representatives from across the six dioceses will begin with a celebration of the Holy Eucharist. Preaching at the service will be the Most Revd Mark O’Toole, Roman Catholic Archbishop of Cardiff. This marks a significant and historic moment as it is the first time a Roman Catholic Archbishop has preached at the opening Eucharist of a Governing Body meeting.
Also addressing the Governing Body will be Dr Monica Attias, co-ordinator of the Sant’Egidio Humanitarian Corridors Programme in Afghanistan and Cyprus, as well as the Anti-Trafficking Project. Dr Attias, who has extensive experience working ecumenically with the Anglican Communion, will speak about the work of Sant’Egidio and the challenge to the Church to be a voice for justice and compassion in today’s world.
Items on the agenda for this meeting include:
- A keynote address by the Archbishop of Wales, as President of the Governing Body
- A report from the Diocesan Learning Community held last year, with feedback on a national survey of Ministry Areas
- An update on ministry within the Church, including developments in training and formation from St Padarn’s Institute
- A presentation introducing the Church in Wales Membership App
- A recommendation to rationalise the terms of office for elected Mission/Ministry Area Council Members.
The meeting will be livestreamed via our website and YouTube channel.
