Archbishop Cherry Vann’s First Visit to the National Eisteddfod

Archbishop Cherry Vann enjoyed a busy, varied, and memorable day on her very first visit to the National Eisteddfod. As part of her schedule on the Maes, she spent valuable time engaging with the local community, various organizations, and politicians, describing the festival as a wonderful way to celebrate and promote the culture and language of Wales.

Reflecting on her interactions, the Archbishop shared how much she enjoyed connecting with people, noting that she even picked up a few local dialect words from Pembrokeshire locals during her conversations. She emphasised her belief that working in partnership with the people she met is the best way to build a better future, coming together to foster peace, love, and community spirit.

The day featured a blend of worship, social discussions, and support for important humanitarian causes. One of the highlights of the visit was attending a special service and Communion in the Cytun (Churches Together in Wales) tent, sharing a moment of unity and spiritual fellowship with those present on the Maes.

During her walk around the Maes, the Archbishop took the time to visit several stands and exhibitions highlighting local and international issues. Among these, she visited an exhibition raising awareness of the situation in Gaza, and met with members of Merched y Wawr, a movement that has been working tirelessly to raise funds for Cancer Research.

The visit received a very warm welcome from people across Wales, reflecting the importance of inclusivity and community at the heart of this unique cultural celebration.
