St Dyfnog is a 6th Century Saint who is reputed to have bathed in the holy well a short walk through the wood behind the church. He started a small wooden church at the current site which was rebuilt as the current church in the medieval times. The church hosts a spectacular Jesse Window (one of the 7 wonders of Wales) that was hidden from Oliver Cromwell's men within the ancient chest now located below the window.
