The Energy Footprint Tool is now open for 2025

The Energy Footprint Tool, the Church in Wales’ online carbon calculator, is now open to input your church’s 2024 energy data.
Quick and easy-to-use, the online tool will instantly calculate the carbon footprint of your church and help you care for God’s creation.
You only need information about your church’s energy use over the previous calendar year, your energy supplier and type of energy tariff – all information contained within your 2024 energy bills.
Knowing how much carbon your church generates each year will help you to understand your energy use, set year-on-year reduction targets and plan for energy efficiency. Over time, you will be able to assess your progress, and you may also choose to offset any residual emissions once you have reduced your carbon and implemented any efficiency measures.
This year it is even easier to compare your energy use with previous years as the results page has been updated to include a comparison with the emissions in the previous year as well as emissions by energy type.
To use the tool for the first time, you will need a unique church code available from your diocesan office.
“Knowing your church’s carbon footprint is essential to setting a baseline for you to plan appropriate climate action at the local level, while making a vital contribution to the Church in Wales’s journey to Net Zero”, says Director of Climate Change, Julia Edwards.
