Clubland vibe to celebrate Easter in Holywell

A celebration of Easter using the beat of clubland will take place in the historic church of St James in Holywell next month.
From Grave to Rave, will see the ancient building filled with contemporary worship songs, giving the service a nightclub-feel for Easter Sunday (5 April).
The event is free and open to anyone wanting to celebrate the festival of Easter, which marks the resurrection of Jesus after his death on Good Friday.
The organiser of From Grave to Rave is youth worker, Jon Andrews. He said: “This is worship like you’ve never experienced before in a beautiful ancient building, steeped in sacredness and centuries of prayer. This will be a unique worship experience where we celebrate the risen Christ in a nightclub style. The evening will be mostly music based with a short talk, prayers and readings too.
“It is open to everyone but please register on Eventbrite so we can keep track of numbers. We look forward to seeing you there.”
St James Church in Holywell re-opened as a Centre of Well-Being in October 2024. It is on the site of the St Winefride’s Holy Well and was extensively renovated to offer a café, a central space for major events and services, meeting and consulting rooms and a Parish Nursing Service.
Jon added: “Turning St James’ into a clubland venue just for one night, is an opportunity to re-think what celebrating Easter means to younger generations. Easter is a festival of celebration, and the joy of Easter has been experienced in many different ways down through the centuries. Our clubland vibe will a different expression of that same Easter joy.”
Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday, marking his rise from the dead three days after his crucifixion on Good Friday. It is the most important festival in the Christian calendar, symbolising victory over death, the forgiveness of sins, and the promise of eternal life.
Traditional services to mark Easter Sunday will take place at St Peter’s Church on Rosehill in Holywell and Holy Trinity Church in Greenfield.
