Salary: Grade D (£33,881 - £38,334)
Location: Home based but involving extensive travel around North and Mid Wales
Contract: Permanent
Reporting to: Senior Property Officer
Hours of Work: 34.75 per week There are 2 vacant full-time posts but part-time or job share working will be considered.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone to work with a varied caseload, across and within many beautiful locations and communities across Wales, with historic and significant buildings, and in a creative way. The postholder will manage the closed churches assigned to them to ensure they do not represent undue risks to the public and to achieve a positive outcome for the building in the future.
Person Specification
Essential
- A resilient self-starter with the ability to work alone and unsupervised but in close contact with line managers.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the diplomacy necessary to deal with sensitive and sometimes controversial matters.
- Excellent communicator both written and oral with the ability to deliver reports.
- Good IT skills with the ability to use computer software packages including Word, Excel, and E-mail.
- Well organised but with the flexibility necessary to manage planned projects and emergency situations.
- Experience of working through democratically organised procedures e.g. committee and board systems.
- The work covers a large geographical area so the post holder must hold a current driving licence and have the ability to work remotely including from home when required. Some overnight stays may be required.
- An empathy with the mission and ministry of the Church in Wales
Desirable:
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience in the building/property industry.
- Up to date knowledge of Health and Safety legislation, CDM regulations and other relevant statutory requirements.
- Experience of managing contractors, consultants and agents.
- Good financial acumen with particular skills in project management from options appraisals to project delivery.
- Knowledge of historic and listed buildings and building conservation.
- Chartered building surveyor or similarly qualified person with at least three years practical experience in the building industry.
- Experience of using SharePoint as a file repository system.
- Ability to speak Welsh.
