The dizzy world of young discipleship is the subject of a new play touring churches in Wales next month.
The play, called Where Adventure Begins focuses on two families and three characters who re-live their childhood and teenage experiences of Christian faith at home and at church. It’s fast-paced, humorous and entertaining, says the Revd Dr Mark Griffiths, a tutor at St Padarn’s Institute (the training arm of the Church in Wales) – but it has a serious message.
“Statistics show us only about a third of Christians think it’s especially important to pass on their faith to their children in the home. That’s partly because many were not brought up in an environment where faith was important and so they don’t know how to pass it to their children. Whatever the reason, we need to address it so this play clearly presents why faith in the home is so important. It will also be backed up with a range of resources written specifically to help parents and carers pass on their faith.”
The performance will take place at seven venues across Wales from February 5-11 and everyone is welcome, particularly parents, church leaders and children/youth/family workers.
