Diocese

‘Diocese’ refers to the geographical territory in which a bishop exercises oversight. The Church in Wales is divided into six dioceses each with its own cathedral in which is housed the cathedra (the bishop’s ‘chair’ or ‘throne’).

Priest

‘Priest’ comes from the Greek word for ‘elder’. Priests in the Church in Wales are those authorised specifically to proclaim forgiveness of sins, preside at the Eucharist and bless God’s people, as well as other responsibilities.

Diocese of Monmouth - Mountain and Marsh Ministry Area Vicar

We are looking for a collaborative and supportive priest with a genuine passion for discipleship to join us as we form a new Ministry Area to serve a group of communities in South-East Wales.

Are you someone who:

  • Is a skilled communicator and effective preacher?
  • Has a lively faith and a desire to share God’s love with people from all walks of life?
  • Has gifts in listening and discernment?
  • Understands how to manage change and encourage others in this process?
  • Is happy to meet people where they are and celebrate and encourage their gifts?
