Welcome to the webpages of the Diocesan Nomination Board! (which used to be the Diocesan Patronage Board, and works as an Appointments Committee)

Here you will find details of Parishes needing Vicars, with some description of their life and location, and the text of the Application Form which Anglican clerics use to be considered for a vacancy.
For a Parish's view of the process, go to
"How Do We Get a New Vicar?", which explains our appointments process.

This Diocesan Nomination Board is advertising for an Incumbent for the Parish of Landore with Treboeth.  Click here to view the Parish Profile of Landore with Treboeth, and at the bottom of the page for the application form.

The Provincial Nomination Board will shortly be advertising the Parish of Clydach.

The Patronage (appointment) procedure in the Church in Wales is different from that of the Church of England, and of other Anglican Provinces. Full details are given in the "Constitution of the Church in Wales" especially Volume 1, chapter VII. You might like to read How De We Get a New Vicar? as an introduction.

Briefly, for any given Parish, successive Vicars will be appointed by:

  1. The Bishop
  2. The Diocesan Nomination Board (us)
  3. The Provincial Patronage Board
  4. The Diocesan Nomination Board (us again!)

though if a Priest-in-Charge is appointed, the cycle starts again at 1. The Parish is "suspended" and a Priest-in-Charge appointed for various reasons, including the possible re-arrangement of Parish Groupings or arrangements for Pastoral Care, or the relative inexperience of a cleric.

Vacancies which are the responsibility of the The Diocesan Nomination Board are usually advertised in the "Church Times" and the "Church of England Newspaper", and hopefully also on this website and through the Rural Deans of the diocese.

Any cleric is welcome to apply, using the standard application form, which can be e-mailed to you (in .rtf or .doc Word 97 format). To see the text of the application form click here. Electronic applications require a covering letter with signature sent on paper by snailmail.
