Just inside the main door is a statue of St Julius and St Aaron. Very little is known about these two local martyrs although they are mentioned by the Venerable Bede and Gildas. It is believed that they were Roman soldiers based in Caerleon who were executed during the religious persecutions of the Emperor Diocletian in AD 304.
Although the Church interior is dominated by the reredos there is a feeling of spaciousness and light.
