Resources for churches
The following checklist may be helpful as pointers to make our Church buildings a bit more user friendly for the visitor:
Approach
- Is the building easy to find (signposts)?
- Is the entrance clearly marked?
- Are there any hazards?
- Are the grounds well presented?
Inside
- Is there any welcome?
- Is the building well lit?
- Are there notices telling visitors where to turn on and off the lights?
- Is there a guided tour?
- Is there a free guide to the building?
- Is the literature well presented and appropriate?
- Is there evidence that the church is active in the community?
- Is there a special place set aside for prayer?
- Are there aids to prayer?
- Is the Christian message obvious to all visitors?
- Is there an encouragement to make a donation for the work of the church?
- Does the literature account for foreign visitors?
- Is there any information to help visitors find a meal, toilets, petrol?
- Is theresomewhere to stay, where are the nearest shops...etc.?
- Is there information about other sights to visit nearby?
- Is there any information about visiting other churches?
- Is there a shop or place to purchase items?
- Is there a place for refreshment?
- Is there a visitor’s book?
- Is there a prayer request form / book?
