
The church was rebuilt in 1854, but the circular graveyard it stands within, and its dedication to St. Cynog one of the celtic saints, may suggest a medieval or even pre-Christian foundation. It was later restored in memory of the Rev. Walter de Winton who lived at the former vicarage beside the river here in Boughrood.
The original spire was removed many years ago when it became upsafe. The registers go back to 1689, further details of them can be found on the Genuki site.
