Painscastle Group

The four parishes of Bryngwyn, Newchurch, Llanbedr Painscastle and Llandewi Fach, form the Painscastle Group. The area is sparsely populated and has no public transport, the main occupation being agriculture.

The Painscastle group of churches has many references in Kilvert's Diary written in the 1870's in nearby Clyro. When Kilvert was alive the Painscastle group of churches each had a parish priest. Now one priest-in-charge serves all four!

In turn the Painscastle group of churches form a part of the Rural Deanery of Hay.

A brief visitors guide to the area can be found on the Painsacastle Community site.
