Hay Rural Deanery
Diocese of Swansea & Brecon
Church in Wales

Welcome to the Web pages for Hay Deanery. We are a group of 27 churches ministered to by 7 full time clergy with the assistance of two non stipendary and several retired clergy, all under the leadership of Canon. Dr. Peter Dixon, our Rural Dean. Within our rural area live 7,700 people centred on the twin market towns of Hay and Talgarth alongside the mid Wales borders in the United Kingdom.
We are part of the Church in Wales, which is a member of the Anglican (Episcopalian) family of world wide churches. We are one of the 11 rural deaneries which together comprise the Diocese of Swansea and Brecon.
To learn more about the history of Christianitry in Wales go to the very good pages by Powys County Council on religion in mid Wales.
But first please wait a minute or two for this page to finish loading as the thumbnail pictures will show you all our churches and many of our activities. Then explore the links to find our more about these historic church buildings and to investigate the varied activities seen in the other thumbnails.

The Hay group was added in August 2000 and the first stage of development ended with the addition of the Llangorse group in September 2000.
