The cost of furthering Excellence

THE CATHEDRAL MUSIC

The present annual cost of the cathedral music, including salaries, routine maintenance of the organs and general expenses amounts to £25,000.

Providing tuition on a musical instrument or singing lessons for all choristers until the end of their full time statutory education, as well as fulfilling financial obligations to a full-time Director of Music and a part-time assistant at a realistic level will cost at least a further £15,000 p.a.

The Brecon Cathedral Choir Trust has been established to secure the future of Cathedral music in Brecon, and to ensure that the choral tradition continues to play a central role in the life of the Cathedral.

The Trust has therefore launched an Appeal to raise a capital sum of £1 million which will provided a sufficient income to achieve the Trust's objectives.
