Worried about making ends meet? Some things to think about:

Sometimes problems get smaller when you define them properly. The trick is to break them down to their constituent parts.

  • How much money is your parish short: annual income vs. annual spending?
  • Divide it by the number of weeks in a year.
  • Divide what you are left with by the number of your parishioners.

This is bound to give a much smaller figure than you started with.

This should make you feel a bit better.

On average Church in Wales churchgoers are not giving so much that they cannot afford to give a little more.

In 2006 average weekly giving per Sunday attender was £6.86. This is just 2.4% of the average Welsh gross income of £286.14

In other words, we are spending 97.6% of our incomes on other things. This should make you feel a bit better too.

Experience has shown that Church in Wales churchgoers give a little more... and a little more again... when they are asked for it but not when they are not asked.
