Why we need them

Swansea & Brecon Diocesan Board for Social Responsibility opened its first project, Bonymaen Family Centre in March 1999. Over the last 8 years there has been considerable growth in the number, geographical spread and type of projects which are run by the Board.

The current Projects are listed elsewhere, however, in addition we work in partnership with many statutory and voluntary organisations, community partnerships and local parishes to ensure that finite resources are targeted most effectively at some of the most needy families within our Diocese.

childrenOur budget for next year is over £750,000. Much of this will be raised from Welsh Assembly and local government funding initiatives, Charitable Trusts and the Diocesan Board of Finance. The support of the parishes is however a crucial element in our fundraising strategy.

Staff are always happy to come and talk to Parish Groups and would be pleased to support any local fundraising events, Coffee Mornings, Fetes that parishes might consider running on our behalf.

  • Future Developments for the North and South of the Diocese
    • The initial feasibility Study for the new St John’s Centre adjacent to the Cathedral has been completed.
