Church and Community
St Michael’s church was rededicated and a new community facility opened by the Rt. Rev’d John Davies Bishop of Swansea & Brecon at a special service held on Tuesday night. The church was full with representatives of the worshipping community and the wider community, including Siân James MP and Peter Black AM.
The project has been supported among others by GWALIA & WREN who were also represented at the service, which began with silence as the newly restored bells rang out. During the service Bishop John addressed the congregation and congratulated them on their achievement and for embracing the change. In his address he talked a little of the history of the use of Church buildings and commented how the gifts generously given to the church would enable them to share their facilities with the community.
Siân James MP said “it was a pleasure to attend the service. I have watched the progress of the development with great interest and I congratulate The Rev’d Jonathan Davies and the congregation for their hard work and commitment. St. Michael’s church is now a vibrant and exciting community facility as well as a welcoming place of worship and I look forward to seeing it develop further still as it opens its doors for the community to share."
