Parishes should ensure that any property they own is properly managed and maintained. This needs to include things like carrying out regular inspections to ensure everything is in good working order and undertaking repairs and improvements in a timely fashion. The maintenance of parish houses is the same for any residential property unless it is being rented out or in the Parsonage Board Scheme. Parishes should therefore consider having an annual maintenance contract for central heating, adequate buildings and contents insurance cover and a regular electrical inspection.
