      Motion:

      • That the Governing Body take note of the debate on assisted dying, and commend the issues to further prayer, study and consideration by members of the Church in Wales

    2. Church in Wales Response to the proposals from the Gathering of the Covenanted Churches in 2012
      Motion:
      That the Governing body:

      1. commend the recommendations made by the Commission of Covenanted Churches in Wales to the Gathering of the Covenanted Churches in Wales and summarised in the paper entitled ‘A Summary of Recommendations’;
      2. affirm the advice given by the Standing Doctrinal Commission in the paper entitled ‘The Gathering: A report from the Standing Doctrinal Commission’;
      3. encourage the Commission of Covenanted Churches in Wales to develop the recommendations  further taking into account the advice given by the Standing Doctrinal Commission.

  2. Provincial Fair Trade Update
    Motion:
    That the Governing Body:
  1. welcome the progress that has been made from April 2012 to date, towards the achievement of Fair Trade Province status;
  2. endorse the work of the Fair Trade Province Steering Group for a further 12 months;
  3. urge those parishes which have not adopted Fair Trade status to consider doing so by the end of October 2014, and to report to the Provincial Fair Trade Steering Group the outcome of such consideration;
  4. invite the Standing Committee to report back to the Governing Body in April 2015 on progress in meeting the necessary criteria.

  • Mediation Service for the Church in Wales
    Motion:
    That the Governing Body:

    1. affirm its reception of Jesus’ teaching that Christians are called to be people reconciled and reconciling;
    2. receive and commend the work that has been done to establish a Provincial Mediation Service;
    3. encourage the Church in Wales, at all levels of its life, parish, ministry area, diocese and Province, to seek reconciliation wherever necessary in its life, and to be mindful of the opportunities that the Mediation Service offers in assisting the Church to grow into that vocation.

    • That the Report of St Michael’s College, Llandaff, be received

    The Venerable Peggy Jackson, Archdeacon of Llandaff, will propose and Miss Carol Cobert JP will second the motion:
    That the Governing Body:

    1. applaud the work of the Foodbank organisation in and for communities across Wales;
    2. urge all parishes to develop further their active support of their local Foodbanks;
    3. deplore the social and economic conditions which have made Foodbanks a necessity; and
    4. urge all Church members to work for a society in which all people have an income sufficient to meet their needs.
