  12. Private Members’ Motion
    The Bishop of St Asaph will propose and the Venerable Dr. Peter Pike, Archdeacon of Montgomery, will second the motion: That the Governing Body, while it opposes all killing and persecution, in particular:

    1. express its profound dismay at the deaths of very many hundreds of innocent Palestinians, including more than 400 children, in Gaza, and the expulsion of the entire Christian population of Mosul, Iraq, over the summer;
    2. affirm our solidarity in Christ with all our Christian sisters and brothers in the Middle East who face danger or persecution, and indeed with all who suffer in many different situations;
    3. call upon Israel as a democratic state to find ways to end any threats to its security without the killing of innocents in the future;
    4. direct its Standing Committee in conjunction with the Church in Wales  International Group to find practical ways to express and promote these sentiments with those in positions of power and political responsibility.

    1. the Provincial Review on ministerial training and the following consultation process which has led the Bench of Bishops to agree to create a new All Wales Training Institute which will meet the training needs of the future;
    2. the recognition by the Bench of Bishops, in the context of 2020 Vision, of the importance of developing lay and ordained ministries to support the new Ministry Areas and to provide appropriate discernment processes and training.
