- Report of the Standing Committee
The recommendations of the Committee set out at the end of the Report will be moved.
- Church in Wales Review
- welcome the Report from the Church in Wales Review Group;
- warmly thank the members of the Review Group (Lord
Harries of Pentregarth, Professor Charles Handy and
Professor Patricia Peattie)
or undertaking the Review and for giving so generously of their time, experience and expertise; - commend the Report to the Church for study and action, and invite initial responses to the Standing Committee by 9 November 2012;
- appoint the Standing Committee to co-ordinate consideration of the report and action on its recommendations and to report on progress to each meeting of the Governing Body.
Motion:
That the Governing Body:
- Tertiary, Further & Higher Education Chaplaincy - Presentation and Debate
- affirm the importance of providing spiritual and pastoral care for all young people in tertiary, further and higher education;
- be committed to encouraging the provision of chaplaincy in co-operation with institutions of tertiary, further and higher education, and recognise its value as part of the mainstream witness and life of the Church;
- welcome the provision of, and initiatives in, chaplaincy currently in place in Wales;
- urge CWACE (the Church in Wales Advisory Council for Education) and diocesan Boards of Education to explore ways of supporting, developing and enhancing chaplaincy provision to institutions of tertiary, further and higher education in Wales; and
- request CWACE to report to the Governing Body in three years time on progress in this area.
Motion:
That the Governing Body:
- Interim Report on the Education Review
- receive the Interim Report of the Church in Wales Advisory Council for Education;
- welcome the progress made to implement the recommendations of the Church in Wales Education Review;
- celebrate the progress made in the last three years and the significant impact on pupils, teachers, school staff and governors across Wales;
- note the reshaping of the recommendations as a result of this progress and the opportunities and challenges for the education work of the Church in Wales in the next five years; and
- encourage dioceses actively to prioritise their education work as a focus for mission and witness.

Dr David Causton will propose and the Reverend Canon Joe Griffin will second the motion:
That the Constitution of the Church in Wales be amended by the removal of the provisions which bring membership of the Governing Body, the Representative Body, Archiepiscopal and Episcopal Electoral Colleges, and Diocesan Churches and Pastoral Committees to an end for lay members at the age of 75.
