Y1 Oakfield School Visit the Parish Church

On March 31st 2011 the whole of Y1, Oakfield Primary School, came to visit the parish church as part of their RE syllabus and as part of our mission to make the church more accessible and well known.

They were both excited, eager to learn and well behaved - a credit to the school. They listened attentively and had a guided tour around all parts of the church. Of particular excitement was our sponsored toilet in Burundi! Another interesting artifact was the bubuzela from our link parish in South Africa. Each child wanted to try but we only had had time for the teachers and two of them really excelled!

Today (5-4-11) I received a wonderful file from the RE coordinator detailing the visit and all the learning experiences in various parts of the church building. I will put this in a ring binder and take it to the Annual Vestry Meeting and the Diocesan Council for Education. It contains some lovely  photos of me!!!
