Christingle 2011
We always hold our Christingle celebration in the season of Epiphany and ALWAYS on the fourth Sunday of January - stands to reason doesn't it? In this way we are able the gifts of the Magi and the gifts we are able to bring to the Lord Jesus through the Christingle service. We remember that we serve Jesus through others. Children and adults bring sponsored gifts of money in purses and in return receive a Christingle Orange, reminding us of:
The world - the orange
The blood of the saviour - the red ribbon
The four corners of the world - four sticks
The fruits of the earth - sweets
Jesus the light of the world - the candle

After they have received their Christingles people light them in a darkened church and we are reminded again of the light of Christ. We received great help from adults, parents and children including Sunday School children, school children and our Church Scout Unit.
This year we also paid tribute to John Bibbs, Pat Bull and Gwen Jones who had been long servants of the Scout movement in St Mellons. Also present were Mr & Mrs Steve Barnes - Mr Barnes is the Deputy District Commissioner for the Cardiff East District.
