Link Sunday 2010
Our special service
November 21st 2010 was the Feast of Christ the King and the day the Diocese of Monmouth celebrated its link with the Diocese of the Highveld in South Africa. Our link parish is St Francis, Alberton and their parish priest (at present) is The Revd Gill Rookyard.
On Link Sunday the choir began the service by singing the South African National Anthem. Other hymns celebrated Christ the King. The last hymn was "We are marching in the light of God" and based on an African tune. It is a great favourite of the choir's. The choir and others dressed in bright costumes in honour of our link with South Africa and the joyful Christian people there.
The celebrant and preacher was Archdeacon Glyndwr Hackett, Archdeacon of Newport, who thoroughly enjoyed himself.
