From time to time people who come to services in St Mellons Parish Church ask if we have a toilet? We gently explain that the Church dates from the Middle Ages and that our forefathers didn't seem to worry too much about toilets. Someone even asked at a fund raising concert for the toilet/kitchenette if we had a toilet!!

Thankfully some people from church have been working very hard over the last few years to raise money, organise a Faculty etc to provide a toilet/kitchenette - so soon we can be hospitable as well. This bit of C21st luxury would be sited in the former choir vestry at the back of church. Only a few weeks ago I signed the contract on behalf of the church for the work to begin. The contract will last 12 weeks, from June 22nd - September 18th (or therabouts).

However on June 18th some very important preparatory work had to be done. I decided to bunk off to Caerleon and leave my Churchwarden in charge. During that day the monumental mason arrived and this:
