Parish Dance a great success!
For the first time in living memory (mine at least!) the Parish Dance evening was held in St Mary’s Church; and a very fine and enjoyable event it turned out to be.
Following hard work by a band of volunteers who cleared chairs and helped set up sound, lights, and even smoke equipment, a corner of the Church was transformed into an excellent dance venue. With a variety of music styles from jive to waltz to barn dance, all tastes were catered for. Refreshments were once again shared and enjoyed by all and what a spread!! Jacqui Walters' scotch eggs attracted particular attention!!
A particular surprise was the appearance of David from Georgia, who, attracted by the sound of music, came in to introduce himself and tell us that if we liked, he would sing for us. Producing his i pod he sang a variety of classics in his fine bass voice - the icing on the cake of a splendid evening.
All too soon 10pm arrived; time to return the Church to normality ready for Sunday morning. This was soon accomplished with many willing hands. The only complaint about the evening was that we had finished so early!
During the evening a raffle was held raising £111 for Cystic Fibrosis.
Many thanks to all those who made this splendid evening such a success, especially Kevin Higgs, who masterminded the event.
