On 7 January 2002 the Parish of Whitchurch ceased to exist and was replaced by the Rectorial Benefice of Whitchurch, Cardiff by Dioceasan decree, authorised buy the Bishop of Llandaff, the Rt. Refd. Dr. Barry Morgan.

The first Team Rector, the Revd. Chancellor John Henry Lewis Rowlands was instituted and Fr. Mark Greenaway-Robbins licensed as team Vicar.  Fr Ben Andrews was also licensed as Team Curate.

In June 2002 the Revd Claire Evans joined as Team Curate following Fr. Ben's departure.  Fr Martin Colton joined in 2003.
