Murder Mystery 2008

Away From It All (AFIA) Holiday Scheme

This is one of the many practical and important ways in which the Mothers' Union helps support family life.

Each year the MU offers on average 550 families a holiday through the AFIA holiday scheme. The scheme is funded by the members of the MU and enables around 850 adults and 1200 children to get away for a break in the UK each year. The scheme is open to anyone who is under stress, and applicants do not have to be a member of a church or any organisation. It is also possible for people to apply personally or on behalf of someone else.

The holidays available take many different forms and vary from diocese to diocese.

Here in the Llandaff Diocese we are fortunate enough to have a Mothers' Union caravan at Porthcawl, where volunteers keep the caravan looking welcoming and organise a starter pack of basic food for holiday makers.

murder mystery

On Friday 26th September in Saint John's there was a Murder to be solved. Members of the congregation, friends and family came along to solve who had killed the treasurer of Mayhem High School PTA and raise some money for AFIA. There was so much blackmail and so many secrets it was hard to tell who had done the deed, but we all enjoyed our meal (even the murder victim) and some managed to work out that it was the secretary!
