Our vision for the parish (Mission Statement)
Our joint vision is to grow in faith and extend God's Kingdom. The PCC have met and prayed together and over 2009-2011 we feel that God is leading us in the following ways. 1. Help church members to share our faith in the Lord, through small group teaching, co-operation with other local churches, ways to share our faith stories and bring others into contact with the Gospel message, using Alpha and "Back to Church Sunday". We continue to focus on prayer ministry and prayer meetings in the life our church and to restructure the way we lead our PCC meetings to be more Christ-centred. We will organise specific womens outreach through the LAVISH meetings for women in the valley and seek to start a similar group for men. 2..Empower a faithful younger generation We want to invest time and money in young people in the church and outside the church fellowship, building up leaders from the church youth and finding ways to relate to other youth and support them in the issues whcih face them. 3 .Nurture faith in our community life. We want to use to get the best out of our buildings and care for them as they serve our mission, with conservation work at St Cadoc's, renovation at St David's and to encourage community use for St Mary's. Within the community we want to be aware of people's needs and seek to support them, drawing more on the co-operation of other local congregations. We plan to extend our parish visiting team's training and work, and to seek to connect our bereavement course to more familes. In some ways we have become a parish with people going to lots of different services within our churches and we want to bring us together better through joint services and social events. We would like to train more people in prayer ministry so that we can extend our work in the Rheola market on Saturdays. On a practical level we will be encouraging people to reflect better on their financial giving to the parish for it to be realistic and regular, and to continue to help develop our parish office administration work.
