Notable Features
A single aisled undivided rectangular structure. The west part of the building dates from the 13th century and the 15th century roof has been completely retained. In the Churchyard, on the south side of the Church, stands a rough stone pillar bearing the Latin inscription in three nvertical lines - 'MELI MEDICI FILI MARTINI IACIT (The stone of Melus, the Doctor, son of Martinus, he lies here). It appears that it is quite exceptional for early Christians to refer in this way to the deceased person's secular employment. It is the only record in Britain of a 'medicus' (doctor) on an early Christian inscription. The stone dates to the 5th/6th century.
