St Tegai
The Penrhyn family built the village of Llandygai for its estate workers in the 18th Century, but St Tegai founded his Church in the 6th Century. The present Church dates from the 14th Century & contains monuments to the Penrhyn family & John Williams Archbishop of York, who was one of King James I’s closest advisers & was buried here in 1650. The churchyard, in a conservation area, reflects not only links with the Penrhyn family but also the culture and language of the local Welsh speaking society.
