Saint Dwynwen - Celebrate love - January 22

A special Santes Dwynwen’s Day service has been organised at St Mary’s Church, Llanfairpwll on Sunday, January 22 at 10 a.m. to celebrate love.

This follows the success and keen interest shown in last year’s Valentine’s Day service held at St Mary’s Church, Llanfairpwll, when about thirty couples married at the church during recent years took part,

Couples who have had their marriage ceremonies conducted at the church, or other churches in the parish group, as well as those couples who have their marriage services booked to take place during the forthcoming months – or even years! -  have been invited by the Rector, Revd. Canon Philip Hughes.

“It may not be possible for us to trace all the couples that have been married at St Mary’s Church over the years so if anyone falls into this category, I would like to extend our warmest welcome to you all to join us on Sunday, January 22,” said the Rector, who can be contacted on 01248 713746 for further information. “

He added:“This occasion, when we will be celebrating marriage and family life, is not just for those who were married in Church. Marriage is about commitment to one another and those whose marriages were solemnised in a Civil Ceremony are welcome to join us.”

Following the service at the Church, St Mary’s has arranged light refreshments at nearby Carreg Môn Hotel so that all those who wish to come along can have an opportunity to get together informally.

Celebrating Santes Dwynwen’s Day, the Welsh Patron Saint of Lovers, will be an opportunity to celebrate with the couples, to pray for them and to ask God to continue to bless their relationship as a couple, or even as a family by now!” said the Revd. Hughes. And of course all married couples are welcome to attend, wherever they may have been married.
