Planting project funded by Keep Wales Tidy
A bid by St Mary's Llanfairpwllgwyngyll to improve the local environment has been given a boost thanks to a cash injection by environmental organisation Keep Wales Tidy.
In 2009 an area of overgrown waste land owned by the Church was cleared and made into an overflow car park to deal with parking problems due to large numbers attending many of the services and at special services such as baptisms, weddings and funerals. It was decided that this newly cleared area should be re-planted with indigenous tree species and this is now being made possible through a grant awarded by Keep Wales Tidy. Volunteers from the Church and the local community gathered together on Saturdays November 6th and 13th, first to strim and clear the area and then to plant over 200 native hedgerow trees.

Special thanks are due to all the volunteers who came along and worked so hard and particularly to Les Colley who advised and guided the project.

It is hoped to develop this area and the adjoining Churchyard further in the near future in order to provide an amenity for the local community and visitors to aid their enjoyment of the beautiful natural surroundings, plant and animal life which adjoin the Anglesey Coastal Path.
