Youth + faith + work = FUN!
We would like news of any of our Bright Stars, Biscuits or CAKE members who are spreading God's message from the mountain to other young people far and wide. Here are some of the things we've been up to so far.
LZ7...CAKE .... 1400 SHOEBOXES
.... AND AOK!!!! ![]()
Over the summer LZ7 have been encouraging thousands of people to let their light shine
by doing Acts Of Kindness.
Now they are saying 'It's Time To Shine. It's Time To Make
Goodness Fashionable' . So after
performing on stage with LZ7 in Soul Survivor CAKE members put the song into
action with this year’s CAKE AOK. They spent a cold November Saturday in the Operation Christmas Child
warehouse checking and packing shoeboxes
to be sent off to Liberia. The CAKE
group processed about 1400 shoeboxes during their day’s work. To find out more about Operation Christmas
Child see www.operationchristmaschild.org.uk
and to see LZ7’s This Little Light of Mine go to www.youtube.com/watch?v=_C4XwH7UitU&feature=iv&annotation_id=annotation_372114
Last summer CAKE worked with the Mountain Warden painting the safety signs at the side of the roads. In the afternoon we worked in the gardens of the pensioners' bungalows in Pentre Halkyn.
Watch this space for news of our next project.
Ryan Thomas
- keyboard player in the CAKE band gave up his time this summer to help as a leader in the Scripture Union Step Out holiday. Ryan is also one of the organisers of the Rise group in Chester. It’s great to hear about our youth now moving into leadership roles.
James Hopkinson
- bass guitarist in the CAKE band has set up a weekly Christian Union meeting in his school. James also gained his experience as a leader in Step Out. James has now moved on to Aberdeen University where he has found a great church and a group of cool Christians to hang out with.
Jake Mackriell
- up and coming worship leader and lead guitarist in the CAKE band sees his calling to music as an expression of his faith. Jake is now one of the worship leaders in the Chester Rise group.
Nick Fearnhead
is now leading a Christian youth group and a Sunday School class in St Mary's Parish Church in Wargrave, near Henley. Click here to read an article written in the Henley Standard about his work. He spent the summer with us as leader in Soul Survivor, and then went on to lead a Christians in Sport Camp in South Wales. He is now adding a Christians in Sport group to his youth work down south.
