Rhosesmor Trip to Bala
On Saturday 10th October a group of 12 people from the Parish of Rhosesmor visited the Parish Church in Bala to view the refurbisment. Photos to follow. Also a DVD is available from Hugh.
In the morning we were greeted by the Rev'd Nia Williams and offered coffee and biscuits in the very useful room at the back of the church, complete with kitchen. After time to recover from our journey we went into the church for a presentation by Nia who explained how, when she came to Bala there were four churches and very rapidly the PCCs decided to close three.
The Parish church was not in a good condition and it had debts of some £30,000 but nevertheless it was decided to embark on a renovation and reordering exercise and a few months after they began they managed to complete the work. They are also about to pay off their £30,000 debt.
After a simple lunch of soup, bread and cheese we were shown a DVD of the renovation work. A copy of this is available from Hugh Burgess if you are interested.
The church really is beautiful, warm and welcoming and it certainly got us all thinking.
