Parochial Church Council
An extract from the 2010 Annual Report
At the Annual Vestry meeting held on the 4th April the Annual Report was approved, the following is an extract from the report relating to the activities and achievements of the church in 2010.
"A very successful Spring Fete was held in May (an annual event), where over £1600 was raised, comparable to the previous year's record sum. The Fete benefitted from the increased space available as a result of the ground devlopment carried out by church members. This is the main money raising event of the year with the proceeds being shared between the church and the selected charities for the year. An outdoor Group Parish Service was held on the Sunday following the Fete in the Marquee in the church grounds.
Other money raising events have been organised during the year requiring a great deal of effort on the part of the church members, and as a result, the following sums have been donated to charities;
Friends of Kanzi-Kibera - £820
St Kentigern's Hospice - £840
Macmillan Cancer Support - £418
WaterAid - £47
The total given to charities represents 23.5% of total income for the year and is a tremendous effort on behalf of the church and its members.
During the year several improvement projects to the fabric of the church were completed;
A new Oak internal door was manufactured and fitted
Insulation was added to the Church and Vestry lofts
Low energy lamps were retrofitted into all Church light fittings
A new storage unit was manufactured and fitted in the Vestry, together with additional lighting. A twin hob hot plate and fridge were acquired to add to tthe equipment available for use at church events.
The attendance figures at church services were lower than 2009. While the numbers in the church are not great, it is a very dedicate group that works hard to maintain the church building and grounds, and raise money for charitable causes. Special services were held on Maunday Thursday, All Saints Day and Christmas Eve which atracted people from other churches and the community.
The church seeks to maintain strong links with the local community by;
the church being open during the day for anyone (local or visitors) to have access for prayer and tranquility,
the local primary school uses the church for a weekly service,
the fund raising occasions (Coffee Mornings and Annual Fete) organised by the church are well supported by the community, and are viewed as a community event, organised by the church members."
