Mission

Each year the church congregation select a charity and fundraising events are held throughout the year in support of the chosen charity.

Recent Charities Supported:

2011; The church members decided to continue to support the same charities as in previous years;

St. Kentigern's Hospice, Kanzi-Kibera and Macmillan Cancer Support, and it is a pleasure to report that in spite of falling church attendances and the current economic situation that we have been able to continue our contributions to these charities. In 2011 this will be:

St. Kentigern's Hospice - £706

Kanzi-Kibera - £1066

Macmillan Cancer Support - £232

The total given to Mission by Sinan in 2011 is over £2000 and equates to more than 20% of the total income for the church. This is a tremendous achievement and thanks must go to the members of the church family  who generously give of their time to raise  funds for the church and the supported charities. The presentation of the cheques to the charities will take place at the Christmas Eve Nativity Service.

2010 : The church members decided that continuity of support was important and so Kanzi-Kibera, St. Kentigern's Hospice and Macmillan Cancer Support would be the recipients of the year's fund-raising events.

There was another magnificent effort on the part of the members and the following funds were donated to the charities:

Kanzi-Kibera -                   £820

St. Kentigern's Hospice -     £840

Macmillan Cancer Support - £418

The donations represent 24% of total income, a wonderful achievement.

2009 : The same two charities were supported as 2008, however the name of the overseas charity has been changed to "Friends of Kanzi-Kibera" to enable the trustees to support education in the Kibera district of Nairobi and not just the one school. The sums raised in the year were £868 for Kanzi-Kibera and £650 for St. Kentigern.

Together with the £250 raised for Macmillan Cancer Support, the total represents 20% of the annual receipts for this small church. A magnificent effort.
