Abergavenny has an All-Age Easter
It truly was an all-age Easter at St Mary’s Priory Church, Abergavenny, where the congregation was aged between eight weeks and eighty-plus years.

Good Friday saw the introduction of a new set of Stations of the Cross, designed and painted by the Nuns of Turvey Abbey. Father John led the procession around the church visiting each Station along the way. The children were encouraged to express what they thought each picture represented before Fr John provided the full explanation. After the service, hot cross buns and refreshments were enjoyed by all and the children made cards and baskets ready for the egg hunt on Sunday.
The Easter Eucharist started with everyone processing behind Fr John who was carrying the Paschal Candle held up high. He invited the children to join him around the altar for an interactive homily, and in the prayer of consecration.
Everyone gathered around the font to renew their baptismal vows and for the blessing and sprinkling of Holy Water.
At the end of the service, everyone retired to the Priory Centre for refreshments before the egg hunt in the vicarage garden.
Great fun was had by all on this day when our Lord Jesus Christ was raised gloriously from the dead.
