Lay Ministers licensed at Llantilio Crossenny
On a bitterly cold St David’s evening, Bishop Dominic came to Llantilio Crossenny to license 12 people as lay eucharistic ministers.
They came from a number of parishes in the more rural areas of east Abergavenny and the service was the climax to a training course organised by a group of three joint parishes centred on Llanddewi Rhydderch, Grosmont and Llantilio Crossenny. The parish priests, John Derosaire, David Osborn and Jean Prosser had taken the candidates through an intensive five weeks in which the theology and practice of the Eucharist, as well as some basic elements of pastoral care, formed the core. Bishop Dominic himself came to do the session on the theology of the Eucharist.
The new ministers will perform a variety of different functions in their parishes and were much supported by their congregations. The new ministers are:
Sally Adams and Clarinda Collin (Penrhos)
Richard Beard (Llanddewi Rhydderch)
Clare Bradly (Raglan), Fiona Lowes (Llanfapley)
Louise Minford, Rachael Veness and Helen Manns
(Grosmont)
Tricia Luxmoore-Ball (Llantilio Crossenny)
Gaynor Parfitt (Holy Trinity, Abergavenny)
John Pritchard and Gill Wright (Govilon)
Revd David Osborn
