Back to Church Sunday, 26th September 2010
Last year Back to Church Sunday was warmly received by many parishes in the diocese. It has been a joy to meet people who responded and are now part of the church family. Arrangements for Back to Church Sunday 2010 are now underway.
The idea behind Back to Church Sunday is simple. Church members invite a friend to come to church with them. They don’t just meet their friend at church, they go together. The whole church is there to welcome visitors. You don’t have to have a special service, just invite and welcome people into church.
Bishop Dominic is inviting parish leaders to join him at a promotional session with Michael Harvey, from 7pm-9pm on Wednesday 30th June at Malpas Church Hall, Llanover Close, Malpas, Newport NP20 6GQ. This will be an opportunity to reflect on last year’s experiences, learning from each other, and to hear from Michael about how best to encourage congregations to invite guests. The diocese will be ordering the resource packs and offering them to committed parishes free of charge. The closing date for orders is the end of May 2010. Contact David to place an order.
