Top Tips for Sunday Schools
Sunday School leaders from the Bedwellty Deanery met for a training session at St Margaret’s Church Hall in Blackwood. The half-day session was led by Vicki Brackpool, who is the Scripture Union field worker for Wales and Children’s Evangelist. The title of the event was ‘Top Tips for Sunday Schools’ and the emphasis was on the challenges of small, new and mixed-age groups. The morning included discussion of ways of planning and resourcing Sunday School activities, and the opportunity to ‘have a go’ at planning a session which could then be used in the delegates’ churches.
A bookstall enabled leaders to see the great range of material available to help with resourcing Sunday Schools, and the morning ended with lunch, which was a chance for the people attending to network and share ideas. The success of the session has now led to a request for more training opportunities for Sunday School leaders in Bedwellty Deanery in 2010.
