SONGS OF PRAISE IN THE OPEN AIR
On a beautiful, warm summer evening on 31st May about 140 worshippers met in the field adjoining St Bridget's Church, St Brides Netherwent for a service of hymns, music and prayer.
Seven popular hymns were introduced with some interesting facts and anecdotes by the Rector, Revd John Heales and the former Minister of Tabernacle, Llanvaches, Revd Shem Morgan.
We were lucky to have Chepstow Town Band to accompany the hymns and to play other pieces of music for our entertainment. Even the cattle in the adjoining field came across to listen and occasionally join in!
A collection raised £369 for Christian Aid and after the service the ladies of St Brides provided a welcome cup of tea with cakes and biscuits.
We appreciated the support of the Area Dean and a good number of clergy and church members from the Netherwent Deanery and hope they enjoyed it as much as we did.
