Raven House Trust provides support for the most vulnerable people in the community through the provision of food, furniture, clothing, and general household items.
Within Wales, Raven House Trust is unique as an ecumenical Christian- based charitable organisation.The Board of Directors/Trustees is made up of people who are representative of the diversity of Christian denominations and the local community.
Canon Henry Davies, Chairman, writes:
A great deal has happened this year and we are grateful to so many individuals, schools, churches and other organisations for their support. We are busier than ever, helping more clients than ever. However, the Credit Crunch that has caused us a lot more work has also badly affected donations of all the things we need to help others, from furniture to food, from pots to pans to bedding (and of cash!).
We sell a small percentage of the furniture donated in our shop on Cromwell Road. Shop takings have always provided a substantial part of our income, but they have fallen as a result of the downturn in furniture donations and we have had to reduce staff hours.
So far we have survived the difficulties of the past year or so, and are looking to move forward by restructuring the charity. We have been fortunate in obtaining a grant to employ a consultant to help us to strengthen our procedures and to look at the possibility of setting up a trading arm.
We continue to worry about the amount of food and household goods, such as knives and forks and pots and pans, that we have in stock. This is especially so as we look forward to the enormous demand that Christmas brings. We are very grateful to all who give food so generously. We'd be grateful also for the help of anybody at any time nearer Christmas to pack hampers and children's presents!
